Three teachers were abducted, yesterday march13, by armed men in Naga town in Zamboanga Sibuguey province, radio dzBB’s Benjie Liwanag reported friday night quoting reports from Chief Inspector Alex Lorenzo, head of the provincial police office’s public information division ( Naga is near Payao were Father Bossi was kidnapped in June 2007(. The victims were reportedly teaching at a school in Barangay (village) Bangkaw-bangkaw when the armed men held them at about 3:45 p.m., Friday, and boarded them on a banca. The report said Lorenzo identified the victims as Noemi Maudi, Jocelyn Enriquez, and Jocelyn Iñon. Two others were also abducted but managed to escape when they jumped from the boat. (GMA-NewsTV)
Three government teachers are still in the hands of kidnappers. They were abducted in January in Zamboanga City and brought by boat to Basilan province. The trio – Quizon G. Freires, 28; Janette C. Delos Reyes, 29; and Rafael L. Mayonado, 24 – were on a motorboat returning from Sacol Island when gunmen seized them at sea.
At least eight other people are allegedly held by the Abu Sayyaf group in Jolo and Basilan islands in southern Philippines. The victims include three ICRC employees — Filipino Mary Jean Lacaba, Italian Eugenio Vagni, and Swiss Andreas Notter — who were abducted last Jan. 15 after checking a jail water sanitation project in Jolo.
